Geomagic haptic devices provide true three-dimensional input with force feedback, integrating a sense of touch into research and commercial applications.

Geomagic haptic devices can accurately measure the 3D spatial position (along the x, y and z axes) and the orientation (pitch, roll and yaw) of the handheld stylus. The devices use motors to create the forces that push back on the user’s hand to simulate touch and interaction with virtual objects. 3DOF (Degrees of Freedom) and 6DOF models are available.

The Phantom Omni device is an affordable desktop solution and is the most cost-effective professional haptic device available. Portable design, compact footprint, and ease-of-use.

The award-winning Phantom Desktop haptic device provides an affordable desktop solution and is ideal for customers who are performing certain types of haptic research or sculptural CAD modelling. The Phantom Desktop provides precision positioning input and high fidelity force-feedback output.

The 3DOF Premium range of haptic devices provide a broad range of force feedback workspace, range of motion, stiffness, and motor force to accommodate the specific requirements of different research projects. The Premium models 1.0, 1.5, and 3.0 provide 3 degrees of freedom positional sensing and 3 degrees of freedom force feedback.

An encoder stylus that may be purchased separately for all 3 devices enable the measurement of an additional 3 degrees of positional sensing (pitch, roll & yaw). A Thimble attachment is available for 1.0 and 1.5 devices; optional finger sled for the 3.0 device. All Premium devices connect to the PC via the parallel port (EPP) interface. An optional convertor for Fire-wire connection can be purchased on request.

The Premium 1.0 device provides a range of motion approximating hand movement pivoting at the wrist. The unit includes a passive stylus and thimble gimbal.

The Premium 1.5 device provides a range of motion approximating lower arm movement pivoting at the elbow. The unit includes a passive stylus and thimble gimbal.

A Phantom Premium 1.5 HF device is available, and includes a built-in gear box option that provides higher forces. The Phantom Premium 3.0 device provides a range of motion approximating full arm movement pivoting at the shoulder.

The Premium 3.0 device includes either a finger sled or a handle gimbal (choice of one) and provides 3 degrees of freedom positional sensing and 3 degrees of freedom force feedback. The encoder-stylus, finger sled and handle gimbal arm assemblies may also be purchased separately and can be installed by the user.

The 6DOF Premium range of haptic devices allows users to explore application areas that require force feedback in six degrees of freedom (6DOF). Examples include virtual assembly, virtual prototyping, maintenance path planning, teleoperation, and molecular modelling. Simulating torque force feedback makes it possible to feel the collision and reaction forces and torques of a part in a virtual assembly path, or the rotational torques supported by a remote “slave” robot in a tele-operation environment. These devices provide force feedback in three translational degrees of freedom. Additionally, all systems provide torque feedback in three rotational degrees of freedom in the yaw, pitch and roll directions.

A new handle design for the Phantom 6DOF family of haptic devices enables attaching interchangeable end effectors that provide pinch functionality. Take advantage of all the benefits of a full 6 DOF haptic controller plus a new option to add two different pinch grips. All Premium devices connect to the PC via the parallel port (EPP) interface. An optional convertor for Fire-wire connection can be purchased on request.

The Premium 1.5/6DOF and 1.5/6DOF/HF have a range of motion approximating lower arm movement pivoting at the elbow.

The Premium 3.0/6 DOF has a range of motion approximating full arm movement pivoting at the shoulder.

OpenHaptics Toolkit by Geomagic enables software developers to add haptics and true 3D navigation to a broad range of applications, from games design and entertainment to simulation and visualization.

Version 3.0 of the OpenHaptics software development toolkit dramatically simplifies and speeds up the touch-enabling of computer applications. Designed to work with Geomagic’s Phantom haptic devices, version 3.0 includes the new QuickHaptics™ micro API, which enables any professional with even passing familiarity with C++ to quickly and easily add the kinesthetic feel of what users see and/or hear on a computer screen.

The Freeform systems are unique touch-enabled solutions for fast 3D modelling of complex, highly detailed, organic shapes for manufacturing.

The Freeform Modelling system offers a fast and cost effective way for designers and modellers to create original models or modify and stylize scan data, and then output to RP systems for prototyping or milling.  The system includes a comprehensive set of modelling and detailing tools, dimensional control and import of polygon data for reference and modelling.  Parting line evaluation is also included, enabling users to avoid costly production mistakes through adjustment of their models early in the design process.

  • Model the most complex, organic shapes in record time
  • Easily create multiple design variations
  • Rapidly clean up, modify, and stylize scan data
  • Create detailed textures for prototyping, evaluation and manufacturing
  • Accurately identify draft problems
  • Replace manual mold processes
  • Combine with other 2D & 3D tools, RP machines and scanners
  • Expand existing CAD/CAM workflows
  • Output for RP or milling and CAD/CAM
