Inition provided a 360 degree 3D replication of a helicopter cockpit for use with an HMD and motion base training simulator. To avoid unnecessary man hours and to keep the data streamlined Inition chose not to scan the cockpit with a laser scanner, but instead to employ photogrammetry techniques. Temporary markers were attached to the exterior and interior of the helicopter and a number of high resolution digital pictures were taken, covering multiple angles of all surfaces. This data was processed and used as an accurate template from which a 3D model could be built. The project was delivered in low, mid and high polygon versions in 3D Max and openflight formats along with matching texture maps.
