Hippocampus is the Latin word for Seahorse

This project was commissioned by MGA International who were responsible for the concept and design of the experience together with NSE's events team. Inition supplied a complete solution including content creation for an animated "imaginary underwater seahorse world".

Seahorse Ball

The Ball took place back in May 2001 at the Royal Garden Hotel, London. It was hosted by the NSE's President Lord Howe.

The main celebrity fundraiser was the retired BBC weatherman and TV presenter Ian McCaskill.

We were asked to provide an innovative 3D graphics backdrop to compliment the NSE's Seahorse theme. We were responsible for two installations, one in the main ballroom area and one in the reception area.

The main installation consisted of a ceiling mounted projection of an underwater scene with ethereal seahorses swimming gracefully through seagrass and the NSE's simple but poignant messages floating into view. Moving smoothly away from the foreground, wave like, they remind the audience that hippocampus is the Latin name for seahorse, 80 new cases of epilepsy are reported each day and that the NSE needs their continuing support. The overall affect was mesmerising and breathtaking.

The second installation was titled, 'Ian McCaskill's Weather Game'. It was branded with the NSE's logo and, using Inition's Camera-based interactive technology, involved the 'player' catching and throwing Virtual Raindrops. To be honest it wasn't strictly a game but everybody agreed it was lots of fun!
