Content Creation

3D Package -> 2D + DepthMap -> Philips Encoded 2D+Depth file

The interface to a Philips 3D monitor is based on 2D plus Z depth. Adjacent to the traditional 2D image a Z image is added, also named depth map. This is an image with the same size as the 2D image. Each pixel of the depth map corresponds to a pixel of the 2D image and indicates the distance of the corresponding 2D pixel to the observer.

thefacts
'thefacts' is the simple factual description of the product provided for you by our technical experts.

Market-leading no-glasses 3D display. The Philips display represents a break-through in performance and ease of content creation for autostereo (no-glasses) displays. Both real-time and video playback are possible on this display. Based on a slanted lenticular lens. Each of your eyes sees 1/9 of HD resolution. Most suited to digitial signage applications. The Philips 3D Solutions display is the best choice when it comes to attracting attention in a retail, exhibition, museum or corporate environments. It does not, however, provide as much detail and impressive 3D as a glasses based display. Due to their content formatting requirements (2D + depth), live-action content is more difficult to create than animation. Live action can be filmed in 3D (with two cameras) and converted semi-automatically by Inition. Alternatively it can be converted from 2D to 3D at a higher cost per minute.

The 42" inch model is currently the largest available (Feb 09).

Content creation is possible with standard 3D modelling/animation tools. Is is also possible to convert existing 2D video in to 3D using Inition's conversion services.

Available for demo at Inition's London and Melbourne Demo Studios.

Inition does the time warp. Bringing old stereo 3D back to life.
28 October 2008
The US navy’s Australian tour was big news back in 1908 - so big that a legendary Aussie pioneering stereographer was there to capture the parades, streamers and unusual propensity for hatwearing of our ancestors. The original stereographs consist of a pair of stereo images that were originally viewed in a simple handheld device to create the 3D effect. 100 years on, many of the images had faded or suffered damage, destroying the stereoscopic effect. Inition Asia-Pacific has restored 40 of the original photographs and repurposed the content so that it can be seen - without 3D glasses - on a Phillips WowVX screen in full 3D for the anniversary of the "Great White Fleet’s" arrival on our shores.
