Inition and Brunel University develop 3D simulation project Brunel University were approached to design a Command
and Control centre based in Brunel's state of the art BITLab. Students
are sent out into the Brunel campus and tracked using a novel GPS and
WiFi hybrid system developed at Brunel. They relay visual information
back to the person directing the exercise who in turn drives the action
from the surround vision command centre.
The entire university site has been modelled in 3D which the controller spins and zooms in real-time to get the best view of the action. The scientific side of the study focuses on the human factors and psychological aspects of controlling people in the field.
Inition were approached by Brunel University to lend expertise with 3D simulation and user interfaces. After some initial consultancy Inition worked with the team at Brunel to develop software and integrate numerous modules to the existing project. Neville Stanton, the professor leading the study, is "delighted with the contribution made by Inition who have integrated high quality code quickly and professionally into the project, enabling us to fulfil our objectives and begin using the system to generate quantifiable data."
